The Migraine – WHAT! Study

The goal of The Migraine WHAT! – Study is to unravel the pathophysiological role of sex hormonal fluctuations in the provocation of migraine attacks and to find an effective hormone-based treatment for female migraine patients.

Triggers for Migraine

Migraine is a neurological disorder that comes in attacks. However, the unpredictability of these attacks is one of the biggest complaints among patients. At the LUMC, we conduct research into what can trigger an attack, how this works and how we can predict attacks.

Longitudinal EEG study in migraine

To improve the treatment of migraine, it is important that we know whether changes in brain activity are measurable prior to the attack. This study investigates whether changes can be measured by offering stimuli (flashes of light) and recording brain activity at the same time.

REGON study

Since September 2022, a new study has started: 'Repeated GON injections as a preventive treatment for chronic cluster headache' (REGON trial). With this study, we want to demonstrate that repeated GON blockades are a suitable first-choice treatment for chronic cluster headache.
